We Hold These Truths hosted by The City of Decatur
Your Story is America's Story!
The challenges and possibilities of this moment will be shaped at the level of community. Every city, neighborhood, and gathering place carries its own stories of hope, struggle, belonging, resilience, and possibility. As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, communities across Metro Atlanta are asking not only what America has promised, but what kind of future we are willing to build together.

We Hold These Truths explores what people believe about the American Dream, how that dream has changed over time, and what it would take for all of us to have the right to pursue happiness and the power to experience it. These gatherings invite people to share their stories, listen with care, and imagine a future where everyone is seen, heard, valued, and able to thrive.
Your story is America’s story. And together, our stories help shape the larger story of who we are becoming.

Meet The Host
Out of Hand Theater uses the tools of theatre for social impact by bringing together strangers and friends from diverse backgrounds to talk about community issues over a meal, fueled by theater. Launched by a short one person play, participants are then guided in a facilitated conversation and share together how they can make a positive difference. Guests leave with a deeper connection with others, hopeful about the future and their role in it.
